Bookending Your Day

Hi folks, I’m going to attempt to write a short blog post today. No promises, though. I think tried it once before, maybe a year ago. And, well, I guess I forgot… But this one will be perfect, and super powerful, too! Because we’ve been getting into some seriously powerful stuff recently, and this is a continuation of that, putting it into ACTION more and more. It’s all so simple and specific, too – I love it. I really am pretty pumped up right now. Folks, this is literally A Clean Mind 3.0 that’s being birthed now as my understanding of how stuff works deepens. And it’s my honor to share this journey of understanding with you!

It all started when we talked about how there are deeper feelings of peace that are built into each of us, as a client has recently been experiencing. Then we made a specific meditation or practice out of it, which can be done sitting with eyes closed or while shopping in the grocery store or in your favorite mall. We called it plugging in, but it’s really all about stopping and noting that you are already plugged in. Just sayin You were created plugged in, and you didn’t make yourself. And it’s not the kind of plug that can be pulled out of the socket. It’s all One. There is no true separation in reality, and even physics has figured that out (almost a century ago). Which means that you are as plugged in as it gets, all the time. It’s all about the awareness of this FACT, though, in any moment. So… let’s talk about the concept of bookending your days! Because it helps you to remember the truth.

So, what on earth does “bookending your days” mean? One of the definitions of “bookend” is a verb, meaning to “occur or be positioned at the end or on either side of something.” So we simply start and end our days right. And since thought is the cause of everything, we start and end our days thinking right. And since feeling comes from thought, we start and end our days feeling right. And why not do this while we’re actually in bed, both before we get out of bed in the morning and after we’ve gotten into bed in the evening? Sounds like a very convenient plan. So we simply do the practice of reminding ourselves that we are plugged into an infinite source, the creative source of the entire universe, right now! And we sink into the feeling that comes from that, breathing it into every cell of our body. We feel the whole universe flowing through us. I’m serious, people! Ahh…. Feels so good (wait, is that Chuck Mangione?? An inside joke from the King of the Hill cartoon).

So let me get this straight… We’re talking about FEELING plugged into the power source of the entire universe? And feeling this awesome, powerful feeling before we even get out of bed in the morning? And feeling it before we drift off to sleep each night? Can we really do that?? Yes! But rather than take my word for it, why not just try it out for two weeks to see what happens? Warning: there’s a pretty decent chance your life will not be the same. So there we go, we’ve introduced the concept of bookending your day. Now it’s time for practice. And another note regarding quantum physics, our everyday understanding is way outdated. It does not reflect the newer science at all. Newer, meaning from almost one hundred years ago. So we’re not exactly tearing it up, speed-wise… But connected means connected. It means not separate. You and everything else in the whole universe, now. So when we talk about something like “feeling the entire universe flowing through you,” we’re talking science! Not woowoo. Not spiritual. Factual. BAM! I get excited…

Here’s a word regarding what we’re thinking and feeling before we drift off to sleep. Wayne Dyer talks about just this very thing in his book Wishes Fulfilled. He believes that the five minutes before we fall asleep is crucial. He talks about how the vast majority of the mind is subconscious, and it’s really, really, really, really, really powerful. And it makes things happen in the world. It brings us gifts, good or bad. And it doesn’t know the difference, doesn’t care. So if we fall asleep while dwelling on how crappy our day was, our super powerful subconscious mind says, “Sweet, I guess you like these crappy things. So while you sleep, I’ll get you some more of them for tomorrow and for the days ahead!” Wha? The other option is to consider that you are infinite and unlimited before drifting off to sleep, and to feel what that feels like. Umm, which of those two options sounds better? Wayne says that the subconscious mind doesn’t use language and is programmed by feeling; that’s why the feeling state is so important. And my view is not to debate this stuff with the mind, but rather to feel it out instead. Does this sound plausible? Does it feel right? Why not give it a shot? At the very least, I’d rather feel good as opposed to feeling stressed out and depressed, so it sounds like a good idea to me regardless of whether the subconscious stuff is true or not. And if not, you’ll probably see some things begin to shift in your life. And that’s pretty powerful when you see that happen. Like, very powerful. In fact, it totally changes your view of cause and effect.

So there we go, we’ve introduced the concept of bookending your days. I invite you to play with this for a while. What’s the worst that can happen, you might feel super powerful and infinite and unlimited and at peace? That would suck… Just kidding. Seriously, though, give it a shot! And definitely let me know if anything cool or freaky or out of the ordinary goes down. And as I alluded to regarding cause and effect above, you can know that we’re starting to get outside the small box that is the conventional 3D earth rules. In fact, we’re just barely starting to blast that tiny little box away. So some interesting things might happen as a result… They will all be moving you toward an amazing life, though. Remember the moral of the story in Michael Singer’s awesome book The Surrender Experiment: life knows what it’s doing. And it’s actually always happening for you. Practicing the bookends might be a way to sort of speed things up, or to consciously drop into that flow. So happy practicing, and as always, let me know if I can help!
