First of all, this is not my book, not yet anyway. And hey, I totally wish it were! In due time, for sure… I was contacted not long ago my someone that Matt Kahn (or Hay House) hired to promote Matt’s upcoming book, Everything Is Here To Help You. She found my blog and sent an advance copy so I could read it and write a review here. It comes out in early June, and in short, buy it!! That’s a no brainer. I mean, it’s a book, and books cost like fifteen bucks. And any nugget you’ll get is worth WAY more than that. Because it just takes one nugget to change your life. And let’s face it, this book is filled with them…
It hit me a few months ago that my one-two punch for a while now has been loving what arises plus understanding that the universe is always moving us towards our best self. So when we’re triggered, we train ourselves to instantly ask, “How is this here to help me?” That’s the essential shift from the ego’s eyes to the soul’s. “Apparently the universe thinks this has an evolutionary benefit for me… I wonder what it might be?” And we always love the part of us that’s in any pain while this process is happening. Life is a different ballgame when you’re doing this, and it’s my mission to spread the good news!
So it was cool to learn that Matt’s second book was about precisely this second part of our one-two punch. And obviously I was quite honored to receive an advance copy. He had nothing to do with it, but I definitely told him when I saw him at his retreat last month. I said, “I’m spreading your stuff, bro! And I’m having a ball doing it.” Who wouldn’t like hearing that? I know I sure would.

First of all, the book is about exactly what the title says: everything is here to help you. Literally everything. As I’ve said before, your highest potential as an expression of divinity in form is like a magnificent work of art. The universe knows exactly what it looks like, and it knows exactly how to get you there. And that path is the things that are happening in your life right now. Right now. Bam! So there’s no pressure on you to “figure it out.” Rather, you “feel it out.” That has a nice ring to it… And you can’t make a wrong move, because the universe can do some auto-correction anytime it wants. And the universe is so smart that it’ll have you learn and grow even more along the way. So that’s the basic idea.
He goes into so much detail, though. This really is a book to be read again and again, highlighting and underlining and dog-earing certain pages and sections. You’ll use it as a life-long reference. You can pick it up years later and the “you” that’s reading it will be such a different and transformed “you,” that you’ll get things that were there all along but that you just weren’t ready to even notice. It’s so cool how that works, and that’ll happen a lot with this book. One sentence you weren’t ready for now will pop out and change your life when you pick it up again in like three years. So this one is a keeper.
“In this new paradigm, our spiritual journey requires us to evolve from the soul’s point of view. This is important, so the ego doesn’t get reinvented with a more spiritually themed persona.” That was soooo me, still getting over that… (but so innocent and well-intentioned). As I’ve said before, the old paradigm, for which we can be very thankful but also which has come to the end of its potential (for anyone that would be reading this!), is really about the ego being in charge of the awakening journey. So it’s about becoming a spiritual ego as it tries to awaken itself, which is like a caterpillar trying to become a butterfly while still being a really awesome and shiny caterpillar. Not possible. But still, it’s just a stage that we all go through, and we are now at a new stage.
He talks about ending the inner war we all experience, of course using love and compassion and ditching all the judgment that’s been around for so long. He talks about the specific evolutionary benefits of adversity, enemies, loss, fear, anger, judgment, overthinking, sadness, disappointment, jealousy, and resentment. Read that list again… Learning benefits of even one or two of those is worth fifteen bucks!
He talks about balancing the masculine and feminine energies. He talks about the foundations of self-love. He talks about the stages of surrender. He talks about the essence of true forgiveness. He talks about surrendering blame for good and why. “From the soul’s point of view, people, places, and things, are costumes that Source wears, only playing the exact role to help our light come out of hiding. When lost in ego, life is a stressful pursuit of seeking pleasure to avoid the burden of pain. As this occurs, each character is judged by the actions that have been orchestrated on a level of reality beyond the notion of individual choice.”
That last part is super powerful to me: “… orchestrated on a level of reality beyond the notion of individual choice…” He’s referring to the intelligent and loving universe that’s in charge, and we learn to trust it more and more. It just takes time and gentle practice. I know that the universe can seem like a jerk that hates us at first, though – I totally get that! Just hang in there and stay with it. I see it all the time with my clients. When we sort of “turn the corner,” that’s when life gets super amazing and no longer such a pain in the ass. Back to the book…
He talks about emotion, and shifting from the ego’s view of pleasure versus pain to the soul’s view of emotion as an opportunity to love more deeply (i.e. when you’re in pain of any kind, love the part of yourself that’s in pain even more than you ever have). The other thing is the massive clearing that’s happening when we’re feeling emotion: “… the soul steps forward to experience each sensation in a way that honors and respects the emotional debris purged out of our energy fields. Negative feelings offer us an opportunity to clear out layers of conditioning that we have carried for lifetimes. Meanwhile, the arising of positive emotions confirms the activation of dormant gifts provided from the past.” This is huge, folks! It’s a crucial part of what we’re learning. He has us unlink our feelings from the present person or situation that triggered us. Why? Because it was all orchestrated for the purpose of clearing our energy fields of the emotional debris from the past. Yes, that means you can actually say “thank you” to whoever triggers you… That’s a level that I’m finally playing with. Playing with… This is big stuff, folks. So no pressure on me or you or anyone else. It’s pretty Jedi, though. I mean, it’s ridiculous. I’m so psyched about this whole path. I had NO idea we’d be here when I got into this years ago. Back to the book…
He talks about fulfilling our mission of coming to this planet to help clear it of all the emotional density. And that’s a huge mission! For real. Another way to look at the old paradigm versus the new is a shift from ME to WE. This is huge, because all the stuff you go through starts to feel big and important and even noble. Because it is. “In essence, what we are healing in ourselves, we are helping to transform in all. Equally so, the layers of emotional debris we’ve already healed become the exact themes that others can transform when around us.” Read that again, because it’s so important and so cool…
He talks about the four signs of transformation: frustration, confusion, boredom, and loneliness. Wait, those are actually good signs?? He talks about a new look at karma. He talks about empaths. Fifteen bucks, people?? Hahaha! And throughout the book, he gives powerful questions to slow down and guide us into a deeper experience of understanding. Then there’s a whole section called, “Clearings, Activations, and Integrations.” By the way, the price of the book is worth it just to see if these have any effect on your life. Just read them or speak them out loud (might be more powerful that way) and see what happens. What do you have to lose? Fifteen bucks…
Then he talks more about why we are here: “… we are here on this planet to further our angelic training as an awakening soul in physical form. We were placed in a family structure during our earliest and most impressionable years of development as a microcosmic model of the collective consciousness that we incarnated to help shift.” Read that last part again, and it might help to make sense of the family situation you grew up in, as well as the themes of your life and your journey as you’ve grown older. This alone is VERY valuable. None of it has been an accident, folks. And if you’ve always felt like an alien in your family (like so many of my clients), there’s a reason. You’re actually the strong one, you’re the evolved one, and you came to heal and clear their stuff. Wow. And now you have a guide to help you grow into what you already are. And of course that’s what A Clean Mind is all about, too. So you are very supported in this mission.
Then he talks for many pages about what life is like when everything is viewed as a gift. There’s just so much. We could go on, but I think we’ve covered enough. Again, the key is that a book that might have any bit of value at all is worth the price. And this one clearly does. So do it! The shift from seeing through the ego’s eyes of judging everything to the soul’s eyes of seeing the purposeful evolutionary benefit is huge, and it’ll change your life. Because it’ll totally change how you relate to life. Life is already going to happen, so it’s all about how you relate to it; that’s the shift.
